    Dear Father Seraphim,

I was baptized Roman, grew up Atheist (lapsed Catholic parents), and later Chrismated Orthodox. In October I married my Roman Catholic Husband, and through him, have discovered the wonders and blessings of “the other lung” of The Church.

We just discovered that God has given us a child, and I’m troubled by the schism once again. If we have our baby baptized in the West or the East, he/she will need to be out of communion with 1/2 of the church. I don’t want our child to be withheld from communion when we attend an Orthodox Church, the Romans have no such anathema in common practice.

What are your thoughts? We all know that reunion of our churches is God’s will, and that petty cruelty from both sides has gotten us to this point. We also know that Love is more powerful than cruelty.

    Your thoughts are welcome.

    Suzanne
